So that their light will always shine…

I’ll be attending the Institute for Healthcare IHI http://www.ihi.org/ihi National Forum in Orlando from Dec. 4-8th. This year at the forum, I’ll be assisting with the Leadership Summit for Patient Activists and Partners in Quality and Safety.

Dr. Kavita Patel will be a joining me in conducting a “Compassionate Friends” candle lighting service on Sat. Dec. 4Th at 9PM located at the outside piazza at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center. http://www.compassionatefriends.org/news_events/Worldwide_Candle_Lighting.aspx

The highlight of the forum for me, personally, is meeting and celebrating with our new scholarship winners each year. It’s my way of transforming a very sad holiday season into an event that lights up my universe. Thank you to IHI, The Task Force for Global Health, our sponsors and to all who participate, teach and learn. See you there!

Comments from our past IHI Scholarship beneficiaries:

Please know I will never be the same after meeting you and hearing Justin’s story. Also, I am hosting the first IHI open school chapter meeting this week at Tech. I will let you know how it goes. ~Tamara

I had a wonderful time and I learned quite a bit! The conference gave me all sorts of ideas on how we can improve care for our patients in the ED. I even started discussing some of them with our pediatric ED leadership:) It also gave me the opportunity to make some connections regarding my project to improve care for children in community emergency departments. ~Lori

What a blessing to have this financial assistance. I think that attending the forum will really have a significant impact on my upcoming residency training and career decisions. ~Thomas

You and your story are such an inspiration to me to continue to work to truly improve the field of health care. IHI is such a wealth of information an educational opportunity, but as a graduate student, I have been worried about how I would be able to afford attending the forum. It would be an absolute pleasure to be able to be there with you. ~Kelly
